Why not make a day of your trip to Tokyo a day where you can meet sea creatures?
The destination is Kamogawa Sea World in Chiba Prefecture. Whether you want to see a killer whale performance or just want to take your time to admire the exhibits, this is the place to be at the center of your day. [1]
It seems a shame to rush straight back to the station after visiting the aquarium. Leave room for a meal in Kamogawa, whether lunch in a ryokan dining room or local-fish sushi on the way home.
From Awa Kamogawa Station, take a free shuttle bus.
If you are traveling by train, take the Wakashio Limited Express from Tokyo Station to Awa Kamogawa Station, then transfer to Kamogawa Sea World's free shuttle bus. According to the aquarium's official guide, it takes about 2 hours to get there from Tokyo, and the shuttle bus from the station takes about 10 minutes. Actual travel time will vary depending on the train and shuttle bus connection. [2]
The station name included in the route search is "Awa Kamogawa". When traveling, just checking to see if you have chosen similar place names can reduce unnecessary anxiety.
If you want to reduce the number of transfers, another option is the express bus ``Axie'', which departs from the second basement floor of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Decide whether to go by train or bus by comparing the ease of getting from your hotel to your departure location and the flight on the day you use it. [2]
Once inside the aquarium, decide what you most want to see.
The first thing you want to check at the aquarium is the performance schedule for the day. If you're here to see killer whales, exhibits and meals will be arranged around that time. Programs and opening times vary from day to day, so use the official directions on the day of your visit rather than the times listed in your itinerary for another day. [1]
The way to enjoy it is not just by watching every single program. Wait a little longer in front of the aquarium you're interested in, and take a look at the exhibits your companion likes. In order to save time, deciding in advance what you want to see will keep your day from becoming too hectic.
During killer whale performances, water spray can also be part of the experience. If you want to enjoy getting wet, consider waterproofing your clothes and luggage, and if you want to enjoy the show in peace, choose your seat according to the venue information. Please distinguish between seasonal specials and regular programs. [1]

If you want to enjoy the aquarium for a long time, try sushi on the way back.
For a first visit, a straightforward plan is to have lunch inside the aquarium, stay until the afternoon, then return to the station for an early dinner. Avoiding a time-consuming trip outside the aquarium at lunchtime lets you plan around the programmes you want to see.
A possible meal is ``Marufuji Honten,'' a local fish conveyor belt sushi restaurant located in Shiosai Market, about a 7-minute walk from Awa Kamogawa Station. In the prefecture's tourist information, it is introduced as a sushi restaurant that focuses on local fish from Southern Boso. [3]
Over a meal, talk about what you saw while the aquarium is still fresh in your mind. If you are travelling with children, ask which creature impressed them most. The last meal of the trip can satisfy your hunger and give you time to reflect on the day.

On days when you enjoy lunch at a ryokan, use a different arrangement.
If you want to enjoy a meal at noon, Kamogawakan's ``Itamae Live Dining MAIWAI'' is an option. Located in an inn that is about a 3-minute walk from the aquarium, this dining facility is available even if you are not staying overnight. [4]
The prefecture's tourist guide introduces ``Kazusa Wagyu Beef Broiled Rice Bowl,'' which is made by combining local Nagasa rice with Kazusa Wagyu roast beef. This is a dish you might want to consider on days when you want to focus on ingredients other than fish in a seaside town. Please check with the store for availability before using. [5]
On the day you choose this option, you can plan your visit to the aquarium in the morning, counting backwards from your lunch time. MAIWAI's last order for weekday lunchtime is 2pm. You can't visit the aquarium until close to closing and then head out for lunch. If you plan to return to the aquarium after your meal, please check whether re-entry is possible and the procedures before leaving. [4]
Marufuji is ``a meal after a tour,'' and MAIWAI is ``a meal that is reorganized around lunch.'' The key to this trip is not to cram two things into the same itinerary.
Once you have decided on your return time, you can enjoy your meal at your leisure.
If you're going for a day trip, plan on taking about 10 to 12 hours to and from Tokyo. Rather than adding more distant sightseeing spots to this, choosing a day to enjoy the aquarium and a meal will leave you with plenty of time for rest and shopping.
The free shuttle bus schedule varies depending on the day. Let's check the flights back to the station, the time available for meals, and the trains heading towards Tokyo. Rather than ordering while worrying if you'll make it in time for your return flight, you'll enjoy your meal better if you leave time in advance. [2]
See the sea creatures, choose Kamogawa ingredients, and go home feeling a little satisfied. Even a day trip from Tokyo allows you to make your day more than just a quick round trip.
