Lunch at a ryokan near Kamogawa Sea World: MAIWAI at Kamogawakan without an overnight stay

In a seaside town, people also turn their attention to rice and meat. A day-use dining restaurant that you can stop by before or after visiting the aquarium.

The only time you eat at a ryokan is when you stay overnight. If so, why not keep in mind another option at Kamogawa?

Kamogawakan's ``Itamae Live Dining MAIWAI'' is a dining facility that is open to non-guests for lunch and dinner. About 3 minutes walk from Kamogawa Sea World. Even on a day trip to the aquarium, you can add time to eat at the inn. [1]

Seafood is not the only thing you can eat in Kamogawa.

MAIWAI offers Japanese and Western cuisine using ingredients from Southern Boso. One of the dishes introduced by the prefecture's tourism website is "Kazusa Wagyu Beef Broiled Bowl." [1][2]

A dish that combines Nagasa rice, a local brand rice, with Kazusa Wagyu roast beef and local vegetables. This is a dish that people should consider if they are living near the sea and would like to try other ingredients other than fish. Please check availability on the day before using. [2]

If you're planning on eating Wagyu beef on your trip to Japan, check out the name of the region where it's produced and even the rice that goes with the dish. If you try to learn about the area not only from the main character of the dish but also from the bowl as a whole, your options for choosing a meal will expand a little.

“Oragadon” is not the name of a single type of dish.

This grilled rice bowl is introduced as Kamogawa's "Oragadon".

Oragadon does not mean that every restaurant serves a bowl with the same ingredients. This is an initiative in which each restaurant offers a unique bowl based on common rules, such as using local ingredients. [2]

So, if you are only imagining seafood bowls, you may be a little surprised when you come across wagyu beef bowls. The difference is what makes eating in this city so interesting. Learning the names of local dishes written on signboards will give you an opportunity to choose ingredients you didn't know about yet.

The view is not to the sea but to the garden

MAIWAI overlooks the garden pool and is described as a dining room with a live kitchen. It would be a good idea to choose a place where you can relax and have a meal inside the inn, rather than a restaurant with a view of the ocean. [1]

Even if you're following the exhibits and performances at the aquarium, here you can choose your food and take a breather at your seat. Try switching your time from looking for what to watch next to enjoying the meal in front of you.

On days when you go for lunch, the tour will mainly be in the morning.

An important point when combining day trips is the lunch time. Last order for weekday lunch is 2:00 p.m., and the restaurant is open until 2:30 p.m. On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the last order is 14:30 or 15:00. [1]

You can't plan to enjoy the aquarium all afternoon and then head out for a late lunch. On the day you choose MAIWAI, check the programs you want to see and think about how to organize your visit from the morning tour to lunch. If you plan to return to the aquarium after your meal, please check in advance how re-entry will be handled.

There may be days when you eat sushi after going to the aquarium, or there may be days when you plan on having lunch at a ryokan. Even if you don't stay overnight, there is a way to experience a place through food.
